Precomp Proxy Overview

Enterprises of all sizes are aware of the need for strong security. Unfortunately, establishing a strong defense isn't simply a matter of blocking access at the perimeter, but also of strictly controlling and logging internal user access to external applications. Some threats are obvious, such as malicious misuse of company resources. Others are more subtle, such as employees accessing the Internet for personal reasons while on company time. Regardless of employees' intent, your company can be held liable for their actions – even if you are unaware of them. Regulatory requirements have further increased the need for complete logging and accountability. IT managers face significant challenges in allowing secure, controlled, auditable access to both web and non-web applications, while maintaining the essential level of security.

Secure, Forward Proxy Access

Precomp provides a forward proxy server that is installed between the network and the Internet to enforce access control rules. Any requests for Internet content made from inside the network must pass through the Precomp server for authentication, validation and logging before being sent to the Internet.

Precomp’s proven SOCKS proxy technology provides a wide range of security and connectivity features. Proxied connections are immune to many protocol-based attacks, because they prevent direct connections between the client and the server. All internal IP addresses are automatically hidden, and every connection must be specifically authenticated and authorized. Even specific FTP, HTTP and Telnet commands can be filtered at the Precomp server.
